about the pistoleros

Membership

The Colorado Pistoleros is a
cowboy fast draw club
Sanctioned by the CFDA
(Cowboy Fast Draw Association).  We are looking for shooters who are interested in old west fast draw and would enjoy the camaraderie as well as the
competition. All CFDA age brackets are welcome. We ask that everyone is treated with respect and consideration, the cowboy code goes here.
But above all we must be responsible gun handlers at all times. Where safety is first the fun always follows.  So join with us, we look forward to shooting with you!

Be sudden, be safe,

CFDA US Marshall

The idea is to see how you would
have shot in the 1800’s, although
fast draw is more of a Hollywood
myth than a historical fact. You
might say cowboy fast draw is
the thrill of stepping in to the
street and facing that evil target.
Shooting style is either thumbing
or fanning. The shooting finger
must be out of the trigger guard.
The barrel of the gun must be
discharged in front of the holster.
Contests will be shot elimination
style, two out of three or three out
of five shots per round. The

 standard contest will be man
against man elimination. There
will be a men’s and a women’s
divisions. Clothing should be 1800’s era. Western cowboy including working cowboy clothing is acceptable. Boots or moccasins are acceptable footwear. Western style jeans blue or black are acceptable. Please no T-Shirts, Tennis Shoes,  Sandals, Shorts, or Ball Caps.  Guns are single action revolvers chambered in .45 colt caliber with non adjustable sights.  Holsters and gun belts are of a traditional 1800’s style. A complete listing of regulations can be found here.
